Welcome everyone to day three of Summer Selah. And as we're reading through Matthew 4:6, we really want to answer the question of what is the importance of trials in a believer's life? In chapter four, trials play a significant role in shaping not only Jesus, but a believer's life. He faces trials during his temptation in the wilderness. His reliance on God's word and the strength of that he found in the Lord really creates a great spiritual discipline that we can learn from.
Really what this shows is that trials test our faith, build spiritual resilience, and deepen our trust in God. And you know, I personally am one that can see multiple trials in my life from the beginning of my life before I even knew the Lord. And I used to spend a lot of time questioning why Lord. And now I don't really question why because I know that these trials have strengthened me, have built me, have kind of chiseled me into the man I've become today. I would say that even after I moved to North Carolina with my family four years ago, we thought that this was going to be a new great season.
And it was. But the trials weren't over for me, health wise and all of that. But it helped me learn how to keep my eyes on the Lord. As we strengthen our dependence on the Lord, we have opportunities for growth and we can reflect on Christ's character even more. So whatever you're going through, the Lord is trying to speak to you and he wants you to focus on him and he will highlight through the trials what he wants to do through you.
Don't let these trials happen and be unchanged. Really keep your eyes on that as you read this week and have an awesome day.
